Tiny Team, Primary Art Supply and Connect Savannah proudly welcome legendary British indie-music icon HOLLY GOLIGHTLY (of THEE HEADCOATEES) and her new, two-piece band THE BROKEOFFS for their Savannah debut.

The Brokeoffs features Lawyer Dave, a one-man band in his own right, playing bottleneck guitar along with various homemade, foot-controlled percussion instruments.

If you don’t know Holly by name, you may have heard her on the soundtrack for the Jim Jarmusch film BROKEN FLOWERS, or as a guest on albums by bands such as Rocket from The Crypt and The White Stripes.

Here’s one of her contributions to the BROKEN FLOWERS soundtrack:

Tiny Team , Connect Savannah and Quality Rock WRHQ-FM are extremely proud to present Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and Americana legend Steve Earle in his first-ever local appearance!

This very special solo acoustic show will feature Steve’s original material, plus songs from his soon-to-be-released album TOWNES, on which he pays tribute to his hero and mentor, the late, great Texas music icon Townes Van Zandt.

Here’s Steve’s take on Townes’ classic story song “Pancho & Lefty.”

Critics are already calling it one of the finest records of Steve’s career, and this hushed, stripped-down, listening room-style show by one of the greatest living songwriters of this generation should be one that roots-rock and country fans will be talking about for years to come!

Here’s a taste of what Steve can do with just guitar and vocals:

PLEASE NOTE: Due to circumstances beyond our control, opening act JOE PUG had to back out of tomorrow night’s STEVE EARLE concert in Savannah at the AASU Fine Arts Auditorium.

We’re awfully sorry about this, and are working at getting Joe back to town on his own sometime soon!

However, the good news is that we’ve been able to talk another legendary singer-songwriter to fill in for Joe.

LARRY-JON WILSON is a true icon of outlaw country who ran with TOWNES VAN ZANDT, BILLY JOE SHAVER, GUY CLARK, KRIS KRISTOFERSSON, DAVID ALLAN COE, JOHN PRINE and WAYLON JENNINGS back in the day.

He’s an old friend of Steve Earle’s, and an amazing guitarist with a low, deep voice and a poet’s lyrical sense.

It’s our distinct pleasure to add him to this show on Steve’s TOWNES VAN ZANDT TRIBUTE TOUR – especially given Larry-Jon’s close personal ties with Townes.

Check out this clip of Larry-Jon performing a couple years back:

There are PLENTY of CASH ONLY tickets available for this General Admission show, and we really need to pack the place in order to be able to continue bringing great artists like this to Savannah, so please buy one with cash at SILLY MAD CDs on the Southside (until 2 pm today – after that you’ll have to pick one up at the door).

At long last, Tiny Team brings top-shelf alternative comedy back to Savannah with a special, one-night-only appearance by the great TODD BARRY!

Known for his bone-dry wit and deadpan delivery, Todd’s a highly respected comic who regularly headlines major comedy and rock clubs worldwide. He’s also a familiar face at large, outdoor music and comedy festivals, and shares bills with the likes of Louis C.K., Jon Stewart, David Cross and The Upright Citizens Brigade.

You likely know him from his recurring and guest roles in films like THE WRESTLER with Mickey Rourke, POOTIE TANG with Chris Rock, and ROAD TRIP with, well, nobody cooler than Todd. And from such TV shows as: Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Flight of the Conchords, Chappelle’s Show, Sex & The City, The Larry Sanders Show, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist, Lucky Louie, Wonder Showzen and Spin City.

Here’s his classic Comedy Central Presents special:

Watch todd barry | View More Free Videos Online at Veoh.com

And here’s a great clip of Todd on Late Night with Conan O’Brien (glitchy video, but the sound is perfect):

This is a fan-shot clip of rising comedy star Myq Kaplan, who’s coming in from NYC just to open for Todd:

The Tiny Team is dedicated to steadily bringing in special, nightclub performances by high-quality, respected comics – but we can’t do this without your support. Please tell all your friends about this rare, affordable concert (co-sponsored by the folks at CONNECT SAVANNAH) and encourage them to charge an advance ticket online.

We must be hopped-up on goofballs, because our very first show of 2009 is a massive SUNDAY NIGHT GARAGE-ROCK REVIVAL!

We’re gonna turn Savannah Smiles into an old-school, pre-punk Go-Go scene with a rare appearance by NYC’s legendary Elder Statesmen of the original garage-rock resurgence, THE FLESHTONES.

Perhaps the only band who played CBGB’s in 1976 and has never split up or taken a hiatus, these guys are THE REAL DEAL. They tour the world to a devoted following of diehard fans who can’t get enough of their insanely catchy Farfisa organ and fuzz-guitar fueled psychedelic R&B.

Frontman PETER ZAREMBA is still remembered fondly as the host of MTV’s landmark mid-’80s show THE CUTTING EDGE, and great groups like THE WOGGLES, THE FORTY-FIVES, THE WHITE STRIPES, THE RACONTEURS and others have found inspiration in Fleshtones live shows and albums for decades.

They have opened for (and toured with) REM, THE HOODOO GURUS, THE CRAMPS, THE POLICE, CHUCK BERRY, THE NEW YORK DOLLS, THE STROKES, JAMES BROWN, IGGY & THE STOOGES, BO DIDDLEY and more, plus they’re finally getting their due as forefathers of the modern garage-rock scene with a recently published band biography and a full-length documentary hitting international film fests.

Here’s some vintage live footage of the band from French TV awhile back:

Opening the show will be Atlanta’s own rising international stars TIGER! TIGER! – featuring BUFFI AGUERO of THE SUBSONICS & THE WHITE LIGHTS:

Plus, this show also features a set by Savannah’s own All-Star Garage-Rock Septet, S U P E R H O R S E - featuring members of GAM, THE 8-TRACKS, HOT PINK INTERIOR & CITY OF LINDAS.

Listen & Learn about S U P E R H O R S E Here.

This will surely be one of the most power-packed, dance-oriented ROCK & ROLL shows to hit our area in all of 2009.

Don’t you dare miss it!

After an extended hiatus, Tiny Team Concerts is once more bringing world-class, critically-acclaimed musicians to the Savannah, Ga. area. Our first confirmed show of 2008 will be:

An Evening of Oustanding Guitar Rock – featuring RICHARD LLOYD & THE SUFI-MONKEY TRIO with special guests THE SUPREME COURT, 8 pm, Monday, August 4th at Savannah Smiles near the corner of Bay and Montgomery Streets.

Both guitarist Richard Lloyd and drummer BILLY FICCA are punk legends who founded the pioneering group TELEVISION in the mid-1970s along with TOM VERLAINE and RICHARD HELL (later of THE VOIDOIDS). They were the very first rock band to play CBGB’s, and helped put NYC’s iconic Bowery Bar on the map.

Ficca would later record and tour with THE WAITRESSES and THE WASHINGTON SQUARES, while Lloyd contributed spectacular, instantly recognizable guitar leads to beloved albums by power-pop wunderkind MATTHEW SWEET (such as GIRLFRIEND and 100% FUN), art-rock collective THE GOLDEN PALOMINOS, and the reformed lineup of Cleveland’s ROCKET FROM THE TOMBS (with THE DEAD BOYS’ CHEETAH CHROME and PERE UBU’S DAVID THOMAS).

Richard’s new tour and band find him playing rarely-heard solo material from albums he released starting in 1978 up through his brand-new disc THE RADIANT MONKEY – as well as re-tooled versions of tunes originally recorded by Television. It’s his first major solo tour in over two decades, and a very rare opportunity to catch his famously agile and inventive lead and rhythm guitar playing up close.

Click here to listen to four tracks from Richard’s new CD!

Check out some of Richard’s oustanding, inimitable guitarwork (he’s in the blue shirt) and Billy’s amazing drumming with Television on the BBC in 1992:

Here he is with Matthew Sweet in a rare video from Matthew’s groundbreaking GIRLFRIEND LP:

And here’s a fan-shot video from a few months back of the new band:

Opening the show will be THE SUPREME COURT, a critically beloved cult band featuring the rapier Southern wit and sartorial splendor of SWIMMING POOL Q’S frontman JEFF CALDER, and infamous avant-garde guitarist GLENN PHILLIPS, who was COL. BRUCE HAMPTON’S original lead guitarist in the HAMPTON GREASE BAND before recording a series of groundbreaking instrumental shred/fusion records in the ’70s through the ’90s and collaborating with psychedelic axeman HENRY KAISER.

Glenn’s speed, dexterity and inventiveness as far as guitar tone goes is simply breathtaking. He’s as mind-blowing as any superstar jazz fusion or shred metal player you can name, but completely in his own hypnotic bag. The Supreme Court’s sound is a quirky, irrepressible blend of MICHAEL BLOOMFIELD-style blues, CAPTAIN BEEFHEART-esque dada grooves and surreal, Southern Gothic set pieces. Rolling Stone gave their debut CD Four Stars. Click here to listen to tracks from The Supreme Court’s debut CD!

The Supreme Court is a quirky pop band with vocals, but here’s some extremely rare camcorder footage from 1996 of Glenn and Jeff playing instrumental music together. Glenn had mastered electronic effects and looping long before it fell into the mainstream:

Here’s The Supreme Court jamming with special guest Peter Stroud of Sheryl Crow’s band in Atlanta a while back (check out the “guitargasm” at the end):

Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see two of the most idiosyncratic electric guitar players in the rock world on the same night in a small club setting!

Tuesday night, November 13th, they’ll play an intimate show in one of the most beautiful and historic venues in town – the Grand Ballroom of American Legion Post #135 at 1108 Bull Street.

Click play to hear the Asylum Street Spankers! Listen to some more at the Tiny Team Myspace.

(Songs: Asylum Street Blues, Wer Ist Da?, and Darling Nikki)

If you aren’t hip to this amazingly entertaining 6-piece acoustic hick-adelic group of unhinged, moderately intoxicated, Americana-loving, alt.country pranksters, then you don’t know what you’re missing.

“An audacious, genre-defying national treasure!” says Jazz Review.

“Inspired brilliance!” says Rolling Stone Magazine.

“One of the best live acts anywhere!” raves The Memphis Flyer.

This world-famous outfit of satirical misfits are just as likely to play a faithful rendition of an old swing tune from the ’40s as they are to bust out a washboard and fiddle version of a Beastie Boys rap or a new-wave classic by The B-52’s. Plus, they’re known for writing some of the sweetest, snarkiest and edgiest tongue-in-cheek ditties you’ve heard in years.

They are the living embodiment of a good time, and will knock your socks off without relying on amplified instruments, electronic trickery or fancy light shows.

Don’t believe us? See for yourself. Here’s a sample of the kind of ace musicianship and captivating performances The Spankers are known for – When’s the last time you heard someone rock the Musical Saw?

And here’s a wry number from their 10th Anniversary reunion show in Austin:

Tell all your friends – this will be one of the best live shows of 2007, hands down! If you want to learn more about the band, check out asylumstreetspankers.com.

Advance tickets available through this website starting Saturday night, October 27th!
Charge your advance tix securely for only $13, or buy CASH ONLY advance tix at the following Official Tiny Team Ticket Outlets starting next Wednesday, October 31st: PRIMARY ART SUPPLY, ANGEL’S BBQ, THE SENTIENT BEAN COFFEE HOUSE (Downtown); ANNIES GUITARS & DRUMS, SILLY MAD CDs, LE CHAI WINE GALLERIE and MARIGOLD BEAUTY CONCEPTS (Southside).

All of us in the Tiny Team just wanted to say how grateful we are to have met so many wonderful folks (both locally and from elsewhere) who seem to appreciate why and how we’re trying to revitalize Savannah’s live entertainment scene.

The fact that we have been able –over the course of a little more than a year– to present such internationally-known and respected artists as CRACKER, WEBB WILDER, JOHN HAMMOND, THE ASYLUM STREET SPANKERS, FRANK BLACK of the PIXIES, and RORY BLOCK, as well as throw a major Benefit Concert featuring members from several of the city’s own top rock and soul acts such as THE SAPPHIRE BULLETS, THE 8-TRACKS, ARGYLE, THE VERAFLAMES, SPLITFINGER, THE JEFF BEASLEY BAND, SUPERHORSE, THE GREG WILLIAMS BAND and HOT PINK INTERIOR, all to raise money for an injured member of the local music scene is, quite frankly, amazing.

We could not have achieved this without all of you who bought tickets to the shows, or volunteered to help behind-the-scenes to make them a reality.

Although we’re taking the month of September off to regroup and restructure the Team (onward and upward!), we’ve got an even wider variety of major artists lined up for the end of this year and 2008 – starting with a return visit from THE ASYLUM STREET SPANKERS on Tuesday, November 13th at American Legion Post 135, and a massive triple-bill of buzzworthy indie-rock bands a week later on Tuesday, November 20th at Savannah Smiles.

That show features the super-fantastic Canadian jangle-pop group THE GOLDEN DOGS, along with California’s THE WILLOWZ (as heard on the soundtrack to Michel Gondry’s ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND), opening for trendsetting Detroit dance-rockers ELECTRIC SIX (”Danger! High Voltage”), who are touring in support of their forthcoming album I Shall Exterminate Everything Around Me That Restricts Me From Being The Master.

Tickets to both these shows will be available through this website starting at 12 noon on September 22nd – weeks before they hit our regular outlets.

Check back here often for more details, drop us a line and ask to be added to our ever-growing e-mail list for advance notice on cool TTC events, and don’t forget to befriend us on MySpace and SUBSCRIBE TO OUR BLOG there.

Also, if you have a business or organization that is interested in helping to enrich Savannah’s quality of life by co-sponsoring any of our upcoming shows, please contact us directly through this site. We’ll be in touch.

Be safe, and we’ll see you at the gigs.

Webb Wilder, “The Last of the Full Grown Men,” has been entertaining audiences around the world for more than 20 years with his completely original mix of “both kinds of music: Rock and Roll.” Over the course of a half-dozen albums and several iconic film appearances, Webb Wilder has carved out his own unique place in the canon of American music as “the last of the boarding house people; a four eyed guy who doesn’t smile a lot, but who doesn’t frown much either; an outsider who feels as though he’s on the wrong side of the tracks no matter where he’s at; and a guy who knows every thrift shop and plate-lunch joint in town.”
